Frequently Asked Questions
Here you'll find answers to the most common questions about our website.
Where do the wake-up times come from?
The wake-up times are subjective estimates based on general research of typical working hours for various professions. They were not determined through systematic surveys and serve entertainment and rough guidance purposes.
Is the information binding?
No, all information is provided without guarantee. The displayed times are guidelines for information and entertainment. Individual working hours may vary significantly.
What does the confidence value mean?
The confidence value is a subjective assessment of how uniform working hours typically are in a profession. High values mean the wake-up time is likely relatively consistent. Low values indicate greater variation. This is not statistically collected data.
What is the Snooze Index?
The Snooze Index is a humorous, fictional rating - the values are not empirically determined but purely for entertainment. 0 means 'gets up immediately', 5 means 'snooze champion'.
What is a sleep cycle?
A sleep cycle lasts about 90 minutes and includes various sleep stages: falling asleep, light sleep, deep sleep, and REM sleep (dream phase). Adults go through 4-6 cycles per night. Waking up between cycles makes you feel more rested. Use our sleep calculator to determine your optimal bedtime!
How much sleep do I really need?
Most adults need 7-9 hours of sleep per night. This corresponds to 5-6 complete sleep cycles. Individual needs may vary - some function fine with 6 hours, others need 9. Regularly sleeping less than 6 hours increases the risk of health problems.
Are early risers more productive?
Not necessarily! Productivity depends on individual chronotype. 'Larks' are energetic in the morning, 'owls' in the evening. More important than waking up early is getting enough regular sleep. Forced early rising against your natural rhythm can even be counterproductive.
Can I suggest or correct a job?
Yes! Through our suggestion form, you can propose new jobs or correct existing information. We review every suggestion and update the database accordingly.
Why is my job missing?
We continuously expand the database. Currently we have over 120 jobs. If your job is missing, feel free to use the suggestion form to add it.
What do the tags (shift work, night shift, etc.) mean?
The tags provide additional information about working conditions: Shift work means changing working hours, Night shift indicates work after 10 PM, Remote possible means home office option, and Weekend work shows regular work on weekends.
What about shift work?
Shift workers face special challenges: The body constantly needs to adjust. We mark jobs with shift work accordingly and show typical wake-up times for the most common shift (usually early shift). Night shift workers naturally 'wake up' in the afternoon or evening.
How does the quiz work?
The quiz asks you 5 questions about your sleep behavior and daily rhythm. Based on your answers, we determine your wake-up type and show you suitable jobs.
